This is a press release from PUP Broadcircle.

Every June, the world celebrates Pride, an avenue where LGBTQ+ can push for gender equality, safe spaces, and acceptance among members of their community. In the Philippines, we also commemorate the country’s independence from oppressive forces 123 years ago.

On Thursday, June 24, at 5 pm, the PUP Broadcircle will laud the LGBTQ+ liberation movements and celebrate the country’s independence with the community through an online celebration entitled Beyond Colors: I-Chika na ‘Yan, True?

The online celebration will be live-streamed on Broadkast Pylon’s Facebook page.

The event will tackle coming out stories of LGBTQ+ individuals, milestones of the LGBTQ+ community, and an in-depth debunking of ideologies about the diverse spectrum.

Joining the celebration are Mx. Bunny Cadag, a trans-feminine multi-disciplinary artist whose practice spans theater, television, singing, and contemporary performance, Ms. Ianne Gamboa, Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ first transwoman valedictorian, and Mx. Shein Capila from Bahaghari.

Being an academic organization committed to advocating inclusivity and transformative justice, the PUP Broadcircle will continue to fight for the voiceless, the marginalized, and the oppressed.
