MANILA, Philippines – Thousands of residents in Negros Island remain displaced following the explosive eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on Monday, December 9, leaving several barangays under ashfall.
Following this, Negros Occidental was placed under a state of calamity. Families who live within the six-kilometer radius danger zone may need to stay in various evacuation centers even after Christmas Day. Meanwhile, more than 14,000 evacuees expect to receive aid from government agencies.
Several organizations have already organized relief efforts and donation drives to help communities affected by Kanlaon Volcano. Here is a running list of relief operations you can support for families in Negros Island:
Akbay La Carlota Youth
Akbay La Carlota Youth is accepting cash and in-kind donations for affected communities in La Carlota City in Negros Occidental.
Bago City College – College Red Cross Youth
The Bago City College – College Red Cross Youth Council is calling for cash and in-kind donations. Face masks, bottled water, and toiletries, among others, may be dropped off at the RCY Office in Bago City College.
BACH Project PH
BACH Project PH is organizing a P50 donation drive to help supply the needs of families and animals in Negros Island. In-kind donations may also be dropped off at Pawssion Coworking Space in Bacolod City.
Carlos Hilado Memorial State University
Carlos Hilado Memorial State University is accepting cash and in-kind donations for affected communities in Negros Island. Interested volunteers who are willing to assist in relief operations can sign up at the Center for Internationalization and External Relations in Talisay, Bacolod, Negros Occidental.
De La Salle Brothers Inc. Social Action Unit
The De La Salle Brothers Incorporated Social Action Unit together with the Lasallian Justice and Peace Office is in need of sleeping bags, modular tents, face masks, and baby diapers for evacuees in Negros Island. Cash donations are also accepted.
Girl Scouts of the Philippines – Negros Occidental Council
The Girl Scouts of the Philippines – Negros Occidental Council is accepting cash and in-kind donations for affected communities in Negros Island.
GRA-VI-BA Sangguniang Kabataan
The Sangguniang Kabataan Council of barangays Bata, Granada, and Vista Alegre, are seeking in-kind donations, including food, clothing, and face masks, to aid those affected by the eruption in affected areas.

Hope Builders Organization Negros Island Inc. is calling for cash and in-kind donations for affected residents in Negros Island. Face masks, drinking water, and food supplies may be dropped off at SK Hall in Barangay Mailum, Bago City.
Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute Inc.
Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute Inc. is accepting cash and in-kind donations to support Kanlaon eruption victims in barangays Pula, Masulog, Malaiba, Lumapao, and Linuthangan in Negros Island.

Pamatan-on nga Mangunguma nga Negros Alliance has called out for cash and in-kind donations to aid victims in Negros Island.
Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabankalan
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabankalan is accepting cash and in-kind donations for affected families in Negros Island. Food, water, hygiene kits, and sleeping mats may be dropped off at the nearest parish in Negros.
Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish – Shrine La Castellana
Saint Vincent Ferrer Shrine in La Castellana, Negros Occidental is calling for cash and in-kind donations to help those affected by the eruption. The shrine has also opened its doors to evacuees.
