LIST: How to help communities affected by Typhoon Carina and southwest monsoon

MANILA, Philippines – Several areas in Northern and Central Luzon are still experiencing heavy rain and intense flooding, Wednesday July 24, as Typhoon Carina continues to strengthen, enhancing the southwest monsoon. 

To help affected communities, organizations have launched donation drives and relief operations. Here is a running list of donation drives you can support:

ADRA Philippines

ADRA Philippines is accepting monetary donations to support victims.

AGHAM, Brigada Kalikasan, and Science and Technology Network for People’s Development

The three groups are seeking donations for communities in Commonwealth, Payatas, and Montalban.

Akbayanihan Foundation

Akbayan’s Akbayanihan Foundation is accepting monetary and in-kind donations for communities in Metro Manila, Rizal, and Bulacan.

Angat Buhay e-consultation reopens to help prevent leptospirosis

Angat Buhay on Wednesday, July 24, reopens the Bayanihan E-Konsulta for leptospirosis prophylaxis and general medical cases. 

Angat Taytay

Angat Taytay is calling for in-kind and monetary donations for residents in Taytay, Rizal. More information here.

Assumption College San Lorenzo Center for Social Involvement

The Assumption College San Lorenzo Center for Social Involvement is spearheading a donation drive for those affected. They are accepting both in-kind and cash donations.

Awra Marikina

Awra Marikina is seeking in-kind and monetary donations for affected barangays in Marikina City. They’re referring inquiries to Barangay Fortune Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson Cedie Balagasay. More information below.

Balay Rehabilitation Center

Balay Rehabilitation Center is calling for donations to help at least 200 families affected by severe flooding in North Caloocan. These families are part of the human rights organization’s community of drug war survivors and alternative learning system learners. 

Bayanihan Youth Movement

Bayanihan Youth Movement is accepting monetary and in-kind donations to help affected residents affected in Cainta, Rizal.

Benilde Center for Social Action

The Benilde Center for Social Action, of De La Salle University College of St Benilde, is calling for cash donations for families and communities. The assistance will be given to the center’s Kapitbahayan Partners. GCash donations can be coursed via the QR code below.

Balai Obrero Foundation Inc. 

Balai Obrero Foundation Inc. accepts monetary and in-kind donations to send immediate assistance to workers and their families in Marikina and nearby areas.

The Batibot Early Learning Center in Marikina is calling for volunteers and cash donations to assist communities near the Marikina River affected by intense flooding brought by enhanced southwest monsoon.

Bayan Muna Partylist

Bayan Muna Partylist is accepting food packs and monetary donations in support of its community kitchen for affected families in Quezon City, Antipolo, and Rizal.

Caritas Manila is calling for donations to support families in Metro Manila affected by flooding.

College Editor’s Guild of the Philippines

The College Editor’s Guild of the Philippines is calling for cash and in-kind donations for affected communities.

Community Pantry PH

Community Pantry PH is accepting cash donations that will be distributed to various community kitchens in Metro Manila in support of affected families. They have also released a suggested market list of ingredients that can be cooked and served in evacuation centers.

Frontliners’ Kitchen is seeking donations for evacuated families in Marikina City and Valenzuela City. They are accepting both cash and in-kind donations, including assistance with transporting relief goods.

Gabriela Youth

Gabriela Youth is accepting cash and in-kind donations for families in Quezon City, Marikina City, and other parts of Luzon. Volunteers are also welcome to help distribute donations. 

Gawad Kalinga

Gawad Kalinga is calling for monetary donations for families in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

GCash

GCash has partnered with several nongovernment organizations in setting up donation drives for Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon. You can support affected communities by sending cash donations to your preferred NGO.

Gulay Drive PH and Trining’s offering soup for evacuees

Gulay Drive PH and Trining’s is carrying out a drive in which every donation of P50 sponsors a bowl of soup for people in evacuation centers in Marikina and Pasig. They are targeting a collection of at least P36,000 that will cover 720 bowls of soup.

Holy Family Parish Roxas is accepting in-kind and monetary donations to assist more than 1,000 evacuees currently staying in their church in Quezon City on Wednesday, July 24.

Ina ng Lupang Pangako Parish

Ina ng Lupang Pangako Parish is accepting in-kind and cash donations for residents of Barangay Payatas B, Quezon City, staying in evacuation centers.

Institute of Internal Auditors Student Chapter-FEU Manila

The Institute of Internal Auditors Student Chapter-FEU Manila is accepting cash donations to help evacuees staying at H. Bautista Elementary School in Marikina City.

Integrated Community Extension Services-SAVE of Adamson University

Integrated Community Extension Services-SAVE of Adamson University is calling for cash and in-kind donations to support students and community partners in Manila, Bulacan, and Rizal.

JCI Taytay

JCI Taytay, on Wednesday, July 24, opened the Oplan Kaagapay initiative to help affected families affected in Taytay, Rizal. Cash and in-kind donations are welcome.

Kadamay is calling for in-kind and cash donations to assist families affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon in Metro Manila.

Kalikasan and the Center for Environmental Concerns-Philippines are accepting cash donations in support of a community kitchen that will feed families in Commonwealth, Payatas, and Montalban.

League of Filipino Students

The League of Filipino Students is calling for cash and in-kind donations for affected communities. The group is also accepting volunteers interested in assisting in relief drives.

Manila Water Foundation to distribute potable water

Manila Water Foundation on Wednesday, July 24, activated “Agapay: Wash in Emergencies,” where donors can send cash donations to help sponsor potable water gallons that will be distributed to various evacuation centers in Luzon. More details below.

The MC Maryknoll-Miriam, Identity, Spirituality, and Mission Office is accepting both in-kind and cash donations for affected Miriam College employees, students, and outsourced personnel.

Moro-Christian Peoples Alliance

Moro-Christian Peoples Alliance is calling for monetary and Halal food donations for Moro communities.

Mother of Divine Providence Parish

Mother of Divine Providence Parish is calling for in-kind and cash donations for evacuees from Barangay Payatas, Quezon City.

National Network of Agrarian Reform Advocates Youth 

The National Network of Agrarian Reform Advocates Youth is calling for in-kind and cash donations to aid farmers and fisherfolk communities affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon in Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

The National University Community Extension Office is calling for in-kind donations to help affected communities in Sampaloc, Tondo, and Baseco, in Manila. They are asking for hygiene kits, medicine, and food donations which can be dropped off at NU Manila, 3F Community Extension Office, Annex Building starting this Friday, July 26.

Only Bangtan PH

Only Bangtan PH, in partnership with Angat Buhay, is accepting cash donations to provide essential supplies and mobile load assistance to affected communities.

Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines

Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, Inc. is calling for in-kind and monetary donations for affected communities. The first batch of donations is now bound for Lemery, Batangas, on Wednesday, July 24.

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society is seeking monetary and in-kind donations for affected pets and pet owners in Marikina.

Tanging Yaman Foundation

Tanging Yaman Foundation is seeking cash and in-kind donations like food packs, hygiene kits, blankets, sleeping mats, slippers, and towels to help families in Metro Manila and nearby provinces like Rizal.
