There’s a lot at stake in the 2022 elections as the pandemic has exposed deep-seated issues in health, education, transportation, and governance.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expecting four million first-time voters by the end of the registration period on September 30. As of April 15, however, there have only been around 1.5 million first-time registrants.
To inspire Filipinos to participate in the upcoming elections, Rappler’s civic engagement arm MovePH is launching a series of huddles to help citizens better understand how good governance can impact different sectors.
Titled #WeDecide Huddle, the series’ pilot episode on June 5 will serve as a conversation starter on various issues in the upcoming elections.
Why are the 2022 elections so important? Why should we care?
We hope to answer these and more in our huddle launch on Saturday, June 5, at 4 pm.
Former Comelec commissioner Christian Monsod will be joining the huddle to discuss the political landscape of the voting process, while Rappler’s investigative editor Miriam Grace Go will tackle what the youth can do to participate in the upcoming polls.
National Alliance of Youth Leaders’ executive vice-president RJ Suarez, Comelec’s former commissioner Luie Guia, and Lente’s executive director Ona Caritos will join the panel discussion.
